Origin of Samba
Samba is a musical genre with origins in the African culture present in our country. The first link about the origins of samba is related to dance circles performed by African slaves in Brazil. Historians say that Rio's urban samba, the best-known form of the musical genre, is more directly related to samba de roda, a musical style played in dance circles and capoeira circles. This style emerged in the Recôncavo Baiano region, in the second half of the 19th century. The term samba, in this context, had the meaning of “party”.
